as a ball drops in New York… the lone star will rise over Houston.

Houston’s Lone Star Rising, the city’s only official New Year’s event, will prove to be a unique celebration of what Houston has seen through 2007 as we gear up for what we have to look forward to in the coming year. Visually stunning, the event plaza will be surrounded by interactive video projections showcasing Houston’s citizens and organizations that shaped 2007. Local celebrities, city leaders, and industry shaping musical artists will drive the program, which will ultimately calumniate in the signature Lone Star Rising countdown to the new year topped off with a spectacular pyrotechnic display. Extensive bi-lingual Television coverage will guarantee that the good will of our city reaches beyond its bounds while establishing Houston at the central time zone’s icon city. In addition to conventional media, the Lone Star Rising will break new ground as a significant online interactive event. It’s rare in the nation’s fourth largest city that a single event can create a sense of community. Houston’s Lone Star Rising is based on the idea of community building and how we can all come together and share what the members of our community have contributed over the year. By celebrating this and building excitement of what we can expect to achieve in the coming year, Lone Star Rising will prove to be an event unlike anything Houston has seen before and on such a fitting night – New Year’s Eve.
